University Technology Commercialization Focused Cohort

Overview

UAccel, the University Technology Commercialization Focused Cohort of Launch Blue offers professional development and an experiential learning opportunity to innovators in higher education that are interested in learning the best commercialization path for their technology.

 

The goal of the program is to advance the technology toward commercialization, including preparations for Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) grant applications, creation of a startup, or licensing of the technology.

Program Description

UAccel includes bi-weekly cohort meetings, independent study with high-quality startup training materials using the online LaunchPad Central platform, guided application exercises, and bi-weekly coaching sessions with the Launch Blue accelerator program instructors and coaches.

 

Cohort meetings are held bi-weekly on Friday mornings via Zoom with selected sessions held in-person at Base110 in Lexington. Coaching sessions take place via Zoom and are scheduled on alternating weeks.

Eligibility

To be considered for the UAccel focused cohort, candidates must be affiliated with the University of Kentucky Office of Technology Commercialization (UK OTC), University of Louisville EPI-Center (UofL EPI) or a Kentucky Commercialization Ventures (KCV) partner institution.

Candidates must also submit, or have submitted, an Invention Report or Idea Report to UK OTC, UofL EPI, or KCV that is related to the technology, for which rights are not released back to the inventor.

How to Apply

The UAccel focused cohort application will close December 13th. Participants are vetted through a competitive application and interview process. The final selections for the cohort are determined by a selection committee appointed by Launch Blue, and KCV.
